After
graduating with a degree in Biotechnology,
I worked in a laboratory but was never fully
comfortable with its sterile and controlled
environment.
Since a career in science wasn't my calling,
instead I tried the corporate world; in
particular Public Relations and Marketing.
With my last firm, I was responsible for
various PR campaigns and establishing the
companies brand image especially in Asia
which I found rewarding at first. However,
I realised that my creative ambition was
limited and my opportunities for expression
were few.
I first learned of my interest for Interior Design when I was doing Marketing Communication
for a lighting design firm. Through these
assignments, I quickly realized the depth
of creative opportunities Interior Designers
have when working on projects for their
clients. The use of furniture, fabrics and
lighting and how it works in a space truly
inspired me.

- I
Entered Polotsk State University in 1994 where
I studied Russian literature and language.
After graduation I worked as a secondary school
teacher for a year. In 2000 my husband and
I moved to UK. My first UK occupation was
receptionist in a hotel in Central London.
At the same time we tried to set up our own
construction business (which was primarily
idea of my husband. I had better communication
skills, so had to be fully involved in the
business. Gradually I realized that the construction
and Interior Decoration was something that
I really enjoyed and I decided to leave my
hotel job for good. We put all our energy
into developing our company as quick and well
as we could.

After
leaving school I completed an OND in General
Engineering and worked for an industrial
electronics company as a service engineer
for five years. After that, I gained a degree
in Industrial Design at Newcastle Upon Tyne
Polytechnic, then completed a teacher training
course and taught in the East End of London
for eighteen years.

|
- With
a degree in psychology I went on to work with
various client groups including young children
and adolescents within the social work field.
Art has always been in the background so two
years ago I set up a mural business (www.mayflowerarts.com)
This has included working commercially (Children’s
residential units) as well as privately. The
mural business has been the embryo of my interest
in Interior Design which I intend to fulfill
with this course.

Having
spent 17 years in the IT industry I decided
it was time for a change and a new challenge.
I always had a particular interest in Interior
Design and Decoration so, when an opportunity
presented itself to go back to study this,
I felt I had to take it.

- For
the past 20 years I have been working in the
engineering company set up by my late husband.
I still own this company but as my children
are now 10 & 12 am able to pursue a career
in an area that interests me more - Interior
Design.
I
also have side interests in silversmithing
and gardening.

|
- After
I obtained my degree in Fine Art Painting
at Bath Spa University, I traveled in Australia
for a year. On returning to the UK I worked
at a local company, Big Day Designs, producing
personalised stationary for family events.
I
joined the Diploma course in Interior design
at JJAADA Academy, when I have successfully
completed this course I aim to become a freelance
designer or a member of an Interior Design
practice.
When I have some free time I enjoy
kickboxing and have just completed my red
belt grading. I enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling,
I'm certified to a depth of 30 meters.

Twelve
years ago I changed my career completely
by taking various training courses around
and eventually leaving my administration
role to teach, eventually on a full time
basis, in further education. The love of
education is gradually waning and I need
new challenges in an area that fascinates
and delights me. Again I hope to be able
to gently ease myself into my new career
eventually being able to leave education
and concentrate on Interior Design.

- I
am originally from Naples, Italy, I studied
foreign languages and literature. I currently
work as an accountant but my dream is to become
an Interior Designer.
|
|
- Having
spent the past six years in a completely
non-creative job as an account manager
in a telecoms company. I am embarking on
a career change. I am hoping to work part-time
in a design related environment whilst
studying 2-3 days a week at the Academy.

|
- I've
spent 15 years practicing as a management
accountant but using my spare time renovating
houses. It's now time to give my creativity
a proper airing.
|
|
- Having
completed a foundation certificate in Fine
Art and Graphic Design, I have been working
as a project manager in the creative design
industry, in both agency and retail for three
years. My first love has always been design,
specifically the dynamic and innovative world
of interiors and felt it was high time I threw
myself into the actual design process rather
than being in the background.
